SHIHAN WARREN LEVI
Warren holds a 6th Degree Black Belt which in order to accomplish requires years of training, commitment and discipline. He commenced karate at the age of 7 years and from the age of 9 years competed at a national level in South Africa winning countless gold, silver and bronze medals. From 1992 to date, he has represented South Africa (both on a junior and senior level) and later the USA (on a senior level) in World Karate Competitions held throughout the World (including Japan, Hungary, Greece, South Africa, Spain, United States and the Maccabi Games in Israel). He has won gold medals and the title of World Champion at many of these prestigious championships. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Physical Education (Honors) Degree which he attained with distinctions from the prestigious University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. He has appeared in numerous publications, often being described as “the karate kid” in newspaper articles. Warren has been a karate instructor since the age of 12 years and has the ability to motivate and to challenge students from all ages and abilities including children with special needs as well as elite athletes. He has also been hired by celebrities to train them. Currently Warren runs a highly successful Karate school in the 5 towns in Lawrence and is the local fitness expert in the community. Warren is a keen advocate of health and fitness in the Five Towns community, often appearing with his weekly advice column in the 5 Towns Jewish Times.
SENSEI M. IBRAHIM
Growing in a martial arts family, Sensei Mamdouh Ibrahim started judo when he was 9 years old. He achieved the rank of brown belt under the teaching of Olympic silver medalist Mohamed Rashwan. Then in order to become a well-rounded martial artist, sensei Ibrahim began to explore Shotokan karate, practiced 4 years of Wusho Kung-fu, and one year of kick-boxing. However, his most focused area of martial arts that he extensively studies, and teaches, is Shotokan Karate. Sensei Ibrahim competed and won many medals in Kung-fu and Karate including a bronze medal in 2002 US OPEN Karate(NKF) and many local first place medals in Kata, Kumite, and team kata. Sensei Ibrahim is fascinated by traditional martial arts for all the positive values that are acquired while learning. He believes that the study of martial arts is a journey that makes us better people, mentally and physically.
SENSEI DON EMANUEL
Don Emanuel started karate in 1984 and has been training ever since. In 1988 Sensei Don received his first dan from Sensei Stan Schmidt and in 1991 his second dan also from Sensei Stan. In 1998 he received his third dan from Sensei Tanaka at national trials held in South Africa at the Wimbley Stadium in Johannesburg. In 2001 Sensei Don emigrated to America. He has been training with Sensei Warren Levi who promoted him to 4th dan in 2006. Currently he holds the prestigious 5th level Black Black awarded to him by Shihan Norman Robinson (8th Dan). Sensei Don has won numerous medals for kata in different competitions in NY and has become a very close associate of Shihan Warren. For Sensei Don karate is a way of life which he could not do without and travels at least 2 hours to each lesson just to be there and to train with Shihan Warren. Sensei Don believes that training is a way to wholesomeness in mind and body and a challenge both emotionally and physically.
SENSEI DOV STERNBERG
Sensei Dov has been training in Shotokan Karate for 25 years. He received his first black belt at the age of 11 and is currently a third degree black belt. Sensei Dov has competed on a national and international level for over twenty years. Some of his noteworthy tournament accomplishments are as follows: He won a gold medal in the 2001 and 2005 World Maccabiah Games in Israel in Kumite (fighting). He has also won various medals in team kumite individual kata (forms), and synchronized kata. Sensei Dov won a silver medal in kumite at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada in 1999. He also won bronze and silver medals in the Pan-American Championships in the Dominican Republic (1998) and in Cuba (1999) in kumite.Sensei Dov was a member of the United States national team from 1997 through 2000. He was a member of the national team at the WKF World Championships in Brazil in 1998 and at the JKA World Championships in Switzerland in 1998. Sensei Dov currently hold the rank of 4th Dan (Yondan). He was awarded this rank in 2010 with the highest level pass by Shihan Norman Robinson.
SENSEI WILL
Sensei Will has been involved in the Martial arts from a young age. His first black belt was earned at the age of 14 in the Chun Do Kwan style of Tae Kwon Do. He then studied Shaolin “Long Fist” Kung Fu for five years. Since 1997, he has trained in Shotokan Karate with Sensei Joe Beauvais at the New York University Shotokan Dojo. He has further trained at JKA (Sugiara Faction) Honbu Dojo in Tokyo and also with Sensei Richard Amos. In addition to his martial art credentials, Sensei Will holds a B.A. in History and a J.D. in International Law. He currently resides in Greenwich Village where he spends most of his time satiating his addiction to sushi and Japanese Curry.
SENSEI STEVEN ALLEYNE
Sensei Steven Alleyne has been training in Shotokan for 21 years. He also studied Kenpo under Renshi Ricardo Mitchel and Jujitsu under Proffesor Luis Ferrer .He competed in the state ,national and international level, and won gold in kata and kumite many times. He received his black belt in 1999. He recently received his 3rdDan in July 2006. He is currently studying to become a Physical Therapist.
