About Us

Our Purpose:
Warren Levi Martial Arts is not “just the name” of the karate school (Dojo).  Warren Levi is personally present at the Dojo and considers each and every member of the Dojo to be unique and important to him.

Warren Levi Martial Arts offers mixed martial arts, but specializes in the traditional style of Shotokan Karate. The specialization in a traditional style of karate enables one to develop co-ordination, discipline, balance and timing.  An added benefit of taking part in karate as a sport is the accompanying weight loss and improved body definition.  Adults and children, irrespective of age, do not need to be fit or athletic or even coordinated to start karate.

This sport can be particularly beneficial to children.  The discipline required in Shotokan Karate and the striving to improve one’s ability can raise the energy levels of a lethargic child or burn off excess energy in a hyperactive child.   Each belt is acquired only after certain specific specialized skills have been mastered.  Belts are not randomly handed out in quick succession as this is a temporary means of boosting one’s ego.   Earning a belt enables a person to learn discipline and to feel a sense of achievement and accomplishment and improved concentration.

Our Facility:
Warren Levi Martial Arts is a 2,000 square foot facility located at 398 Central Avenue, Lawrence New York 11559. It is on the cross streets Washington Avenue and Central Avenue. It is located across the street from the Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department. Above the huge storefront windows is a signage reading “KARATE”.

When entering the dojo facility there is a welcoming area which is used for seating and viewing of the lessons. Those with younger kids can, on request, be accommodated with cable television or cartoons. There is one dojo office situated at the entrance upon walking in.

There are separate male and female changing facilities. Situated near the female change room are two amenities.

The dojo features state-of-the-art equipment with audio entertainment. The majority of the dojo is focused around the huge training area. The mats of the dojo are official karate mats used in international tournaments. This allows for a professional workout environment. Near the dojo floor is a selection of strength equipment including a chin-up station. The dojo has heating during winter and is air-conditioned during the summer months.

A recent renovation of the dojo included a new coat of paint throughout the facility. The colors were specifically chosen to make the students training environment feel homey.
